Kites has been withdrawn from theatres!
Heartbreak for all the Hrithik Roshan fans in Karnataka as his latest movie Kites has been withdrawn from theatres after a call of boycott by the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC).
Reason? KFCC accuses producer Rakesh Roshan of flouting the norms of the release of non-Kannada films in the state.
According to the norm, ‘Kites’ was given a special permission to release on 24 theatres, but exhibitor Big Cinemas planned to release it on 46 theatres. Normally, non-Kannada films are allowed release only on 21 theatres.
A meeting was called on Thursday to find a solution, but producer Rakesh Roshan gave it a miss.
KFCC President Basant Kumar Patil is quoted as saying: “There was a meeting but Rakesh Roshan did not turn up. But we are the supreme body and they can't violate the norms.”
In the past, Hindi films like 3 Idiots and My Name Is Khan have released in Karnataka in less than 24 theatres.

Hrithik does it all for Barbara
Barbara Mori who quietly arrived in Mumbai on Monday morning left on Tuesday morning with Hrithik Roshan to shoot an ad campaign for Provogue. The Roshans wish to keep her visit to a city that the Mexican actress now knows so well, as low-key as possible until she returns from the Maldives on 22 April for a series of press interactions in Mumbai.
Buzz up!Hrithik wrapped up the final few days of his shooting with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Guzaarish before Barbara’s arrival. Both Hrithik and his wife Sussanne gladly played Barbara’s host on her arrival on Monday.
Speaking on her current visit to India, Rakesh Roshan said, “We don’t want to create any unnecessary hype about her presence. But we do want to make it clear that we didn’t sign Barbara for Kites because we needed any Caucasian girl. Barbara is not just a pretty girl. She is an amazing actress. You have to see her in Cosas Insignificantes where she had shaved off her hair. She is an outstanding dramatic actress.”
Barbara spent Monday in Mumbai with the Roshans and left early on Tuesday morning for the Maldives, prepared to return to Mumbai to a barrage of questions on her friendship with Hrithik which, apparently she is ready to tackle. She leaves Mumbai on 2 May and will join Hrithik for the US premieres of Kites in the US.

Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori got wet together!
Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori reportedly got wet together in the rain for a sequence for director Anurag Basu’s film Kites while shooting on Las Vegas.
It goes without saying that shooting a rain sequence in any bustling American city isn’t easy. Rakesh Roshan, producer of the film, had to get required permissions and block the road for a few hours and call in the tankers to create artificial rain. On top of it, the rain sequence, we hear, was shot in the morning to capture the soothing blue light of the rising sun.
Since light changes in the morning in a matter of minutes, everyone was on their toes during the shoot. The onus was on Hrithik and Barbara to give a perfect take. And boy, we hear, the two sizzled together in the rain.
Set for release in May this year, ‘Kites’ also stars Kangana Ranaut. But it’s the chemistry between Hrithik and Barbara that’s on everyone’s tongue.

Hrithik,Barbara intimate scenes edited in Hindi version
We might belong to the land of the Kama Sutra but Rakesh Roshan wants to take no chances with his home production Kites.
After approaching Raju Hirani and finally getting Brett Ratner to edit the film, Roshan has decided to considerably do away with the intimate scenes between Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori in the Hindi version on the instance of Ratner who is editing the film’s English version.
A source from the production unit reveals, “The film has an English as well as a Hindi version. As the intimate scenes between Hrithik and Barbara are way too bold for the Indian audience, Brett asked Rakesh Roshan to either completely delete or at least water down the passionate scenes in the Hindi version.”
“Brett Ratner was especially called to re-edit Kites. He was got in to cater to the international audience. Being an expert, Ratner gave his suggestion as he understands the mindset of the Indian audience very well. Also, the intimate scenes between Hrithik and Barbara should not become the talk of the town especially after rumours of their alleged affair. Rakesh Roshan is now making the necessary changes” adds the source. Says Rakesh Roshan, “My films are made for a family audience. There are no intimate or lovemaking scenes in Kites.”
‘Kites’ to be released on 21st May
Reliance BIG Pictures and Rakesh Roshan are waiting eagerly for their romantic mega project ‘Kites’ to hit the silver screen. The movie stars Hrithik Roshan and Mexican model Barbara Mori and will release worldwide in Hindi and English versions on 21st May in over 60 countries. The trailer of the Hindi version will be screened on 1700 screens worldwide on Friday, 12th February, where as the trailer of the English version will be released shortly in 1000 screens.
“We have always believed that Indian films and talent can enjoy the same success and recognition internationally as in India. Kites is a first-of-its-kind Indian film and it has already generated huge interest. We are proud to present the first look to a worldwide audience,” said Sanjeev Lamba, CEO of Reliance BIG Pictures.
Directed by Anurag Basu, the movie also stars Kangana Ranaut, Kabir Bedi and Nick Brown. The English version of the movie is presented and reworked by well-known Hollywood director Brett Ratner.
Hrithik Roshan’s Kites needs a final edition
Kites seems to be in rough winds again. The bilingual movie is already delayed, and now is scheduled for May 21 release. But still, it has to be edited to a final Bollywood version.
As reported, the international version is being edited by Hollywood’s Brett Ratner but for the Indian version producer Rakesh Roshan is still in search of a good editor.
Apparently Rakesh wanted Raju Hirani to do the final edit of the film, but the talented director of 3 Idiots has allegedly said no. Sources claim that, “after the stupendous success of ‘3 Idiots’, Rakesh felt it would be prudent to get someone of Raju's expertise to sit in on the final edit of the Hrithik Roshan-Barbara Mori love saga.”
Well, director Hirani who is also a good editor and has edited most of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s films is reportedly a busy man with a list of priorities now. And thus he couldn’t make himself available for the Roshans’ most ambitious film till now.
