Shruti Haasan born 28 January 1986 is an Indian actress, singer and music composer who has worked in predominantly Hindi, Tamil and Telugu films. Her parents are the noted actors, Kamal Haasan and Sarika. As a child artiste, she sung in films and appeared in a guest role, before making her senior acting debut in the 2009 action drama, Luck. Since she has won acclaim for her role in the Walt Disney fantasy film, Anaganaga O Dheerudu, whilst he is currently filming for several projects including A. R. Murugadoss's 7aam Arivu alongside Suriya. She has also continued her stint in music through work as a singer in regional Indian languages, a career in music direction beginning with her father's production Unnaipol Oruvan and her own music band and album.

In 2000, Haasan made her cinematic debut in the Tamil and Hindi bilingual film, Hey Ram, directed by her father. She made a cameo appearance as the daughter of Vallabhai Patel in the biopic of Mahatma Gandhi. Her recent Bollywood movie opposite Imran Khan, "Luck" was yet another box office disaster. However, her acting skills are appreciated by a large section of the audience.

Shruti to be the talk of the town

Shruti Hassan, after the failure of her movie Luck, is presently the talk of the town. She has been spotted many times with.

The Rang De Basanti fame Siddharth for lunch, dinner meetings, have been seen at parties dancing till night.

Shruti Hassan does not get along with her mother

Shruti Hassan made her big Bollywood debut with ‘Luck’ with Imran Khan but apparently her ‘luck’ did not favour her and the film bombed at the box office but this is anyway has not disheartened Shruti.

Shruti calls her father Kamal Hassan as her support system. She says, “I want to explore the whole world and I have my daddy’s full cooperation in this. I have self-drawn boundaries which I’d never attempt to cross.”

Shruti is also fond of Kamal Hassan’s prsent partner Gauthami and this does not go down well with her mom Saarika which has resulted in a situation that the two are not in talking terms with each other. Says Shruti, “My mother doesn’t like my friendship with Gauthami Madam. She is angry with me because of this count and avoids speaking to me. I’m not bothered about that.”

Shruthi-Akshara use hip-hop for their dad’s upcoming movie Unnaipol Oruvan

Shruthi Haasan’s Kollywood debut is happening behind the scenes, in a composing studio! She’s composing the music for dad Kamal Haasan’s upcoming movie Unnaipol Oruvan, a remake of the critically-acclaimed Bollywood flick A Wednesday. Admitting that it’s quite a challenge to compose for her father’s movie, she has still teamed up with her younger sister Akshara and taken on yet another challenge. What is that challenge?

Shruthi has composed a hip-hop song 'Easier Said Than Done', with a political message to it, a message linked to the crux of Unnaipol Oruvan. This song is to be made into a music video to be directed by Shruthi, with steps choreographed by Akshara who is a trained hip-hop and jazz dancer! Papa sure will be dancing to his girls tunes!
