Aishwarya Rai Bachchan forced to take rest!

Madhur Bhandarkar’s “Heroine” with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Arjun Rampal in the main lead has been aborted after six days shooting at the Mehboob Studios, Bandra and Lata Bungalow, Andheri, Mumbai.

A source says, “The film was budgeted at a modest 15 cr…and the signing amount paid to the principal cast and crew plus the six days shooting expense is a complete washout”. Besides this Heroine was launched with fanfare at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2011. Obviously the entire travel,  lodging and PR expenses on this account are a loss too.

While the grapevine says that Madhur and UTV may still look at another heroine to be the heroine of this project, trade gurus aver that this is now a closed subject. A leading trade analyst says, Heroine is a jinxed project. First Kareena Kapoor opted out, now Ash has been forced to take a sabbatical on account of her pregnancy. Guess this film is not meant to be”.

In the meantime, Balaji Telefilms “The Dirty Pictures” that was supposed to be a direct competitor to UTV’s “Heroine” will in all likelihood fly solo. They have chosen 10 November 2011 as their release date.

In Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Katrina Kaif showed her potential at doing comedy. Now, director Rajkumar Santoshi has roped her in for another laughathon.

This time, Katrina will be paired with Abhishek Bachchan. The duo first worked together in Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar years ago and never after that. Katrina says she was hoping to do an all-out romantic film with Abhi after Sarkar.

In Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Katrina Kaif showed her potential at doing comedy. Now, director Rajkumar Santoshi has roped her in for another laughathon.

Katrina-Abhishek reunite for a comedy flick

Bollywood Sexy Actress Katrina Kaif did show her potential at doing comedy in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Now, Katrina Kaif will be seen in another laughably Acting in director Rajkumar Santoshi next.

Katrina Kaif will be paired with Abhishek Bachchan thereby putting to rest all rumors about Katrina being reluctant to work with Junior B. After Sarkar, Katrina was hoping to do an all-out romantic flick with Abhi.

Says Kaif, “I had done one of my earliest films (Sarkar) with Abhishek. And it was great fun. Somehow subsequent projects didn’t work out. I had decided whenever I work with him again, it would be in an out-and-out romantic subject.”

Director Sanoshi penned the script keeping Abhishek in mind. He thinks the actor has a “great comic potential” that still needs to be tapped. This would also be Santoshi’s first film with Abhishek.

Says Santoshi, “In him, I see great-untapped potential and a hunger to excel. There’s a very mischievous side to his personality, which has not been tapped in any film”

The untitled film will be produced by Santoshi and will go on the floors early next year.

Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey - Movie Review

Grade: C- Ek Baar Chalta Hai :D

Well, to be honest, I went to the movie expecting something as big as Lagaan. After all, the theme was the same and so was the director. But then KHJJS is NOT even anywhere close to our entry to the Oscars.

The movie opens with a message about the unsung heroes of the Chittagong Uprising of 1930. The theater bore testimony to this fact, that we are not interested in their forgotten saga, with just 20 people to watch the first day first show. This Abhishek Bachchan- Deepika Padukone starrer patriotic thriller had a damp opening.

The story is about Surjya Sen, a school teacher, from Chittagong or Chottogram. A group of 64 revolutionaries, including young boys (some even 13 years old) and women attack the British. What follows is the chase by the British to find and punish them. And the rest is history.

KHJJS- The Weak Points

* The movie lacks the spirit of Lagaan or the freshness of Rang De Basanti, both follow the patriotic theme with a different touch.
* Abhishek Bachchan tries to do justice to the role of Surjya Sen but lacks the punch. Considering that he gave to us a power packed performance in Guru.
* Deepika Padukone (as Kalpana Dutta) with her starched Bengali saris and two braids, looks pretty but does not add anything to the movie.
* The slow pace of the movie kills the thrill. It doesn’t leave the audience at the edge of their seat in anticipation.
* The music by Sohail Sen fails to evoke the same emotion that songs like “Yeh jo des hain mera” (Swades), “Baar baar haan (Lagaan) or the evergreen “Aye Mere Watan ke Logon” have done.
* The backbone of a patriotic movie is its dialogue, and sadly, KHJJS does not have any speech that would make the viewers sit up and clap.

KHJJS- The Strong Points

* Let’s applaud the honest intentions of Ashutosh Gowarikar in letting us know about the freedom fighters whom we remember at our convenience.
* The highlight of the movie are the young teenagers. Their effortless acting will surely win your heart. They come up with the most innocent lines in the movie which carry a lot of weight.
* For a movie without any “S” factor, that is SRK, Salman, Sex and Sheila, needed for success KHJJS does engage you in its own sweet way. However, it does have another “S”, namely simplicity to get it going for almost 3 hours. I know that’s too long.
* You will be transported to the India in the 30s with the gramophone, the vintage cars and the dusty roads of a Bengal village. You will love the beauty of the locales. I guess Gowarikar did his research thoroughly.
* The bright side of making a movie on nationalism is that even if you go wrong, the patriotism of the audience keeps the movie alive. We hope that’s true for KHJJS too.

Rumors related to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have again started making the rounds. The rumors, this time, are related to her pregnancy not in India but in Dubai.

Ash was recently set to fly to Dubai to do some important interviews but her visit was canceled on account of ill health, which sparked the rumor that Aishwarya is lastly in the family way.

“Unless it is a case of dodgy Indian curries that is slowly but surely emanating, the rumor mills are grinding to grist the possibility of a classic Aishwarya diva tantrum because she is pregnant,” a local newspaper in Dubai is reported to have printed.

Sources had informed the newspaper that Aishwarya was not well and hence had cancelled the said interviews. This is not the first time that the buzz about her pregnancy has reached us.

Aishwarya and Abhishek should have had a few babies by now, had we believed in all these gossips.

Prahlad Kakkar ask’s Jr Bachchan to forgive

I’ll make peace with him on a personal level,” said adman Prahlad Kakkar, a day after actor Abhishek Bachchan lashed out against him on Twitter.

On Wednesday, at the Mumbai Film Festival, Prahlad Kakkar had taken potshots at Abhishek. “Abhishek Bachchan has 17 flops in a row and is still going strong. He is unique, and should be in the Guinness Book of Records,” he had said during a discussion on Bollywood. He also called the industry ‘a mom and pop shop’, saying that most actors in Bollywood are star sons or star nephews.

“Why use a good actor when you can have a nephew?” he had said.

Prahlad Kakkar clearly upset by his comment, Abhishek Bachchan reacted on Twitter Thursday afternoon.

“I love Prahlad Kakkar, he should be a stand-up comic not an ad-filmmaker. Maybe then someone will take him seriously! This coming from a man who makes commercials with his own son. Hmmm. Oh ya, Prahlad Kakkar, I’m already in the Guiness book of world records and a very proud son. I hope you give your sons an opportunity to say the same someday (sic),” he wrote.

In the statement, Abhishek refers to the fact that he holds the record for the maximum number of public appearances made in 12 hours — a part of the promotion of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Delhi 6.

Prahlad Kakkar has gone on the defensive after the tweet.

“Yes, I absolutely agree with Abhishek Bachchan that I am a good ad-filmmaker, but a better stand-up comedian. Don’t know why he took me seriously it was said in a good humor,” Prahlad Kakkar said.

“People know I am always funny, but if he has reacted, I’m sure it has hurt him, and I am feeling extremely awkward and embarrassed. I shall make peace with him on a personal level. He is a great guy and a good actor. I am a good comedian, and comedians should not be taken seriously. So Master Bachchan please forgive me,” he said.

It may be recalled that Prahlad Kakkar was among the very few people from the industry to be invited for Abhishek’s wedding to Aishwarya Rai, and Ash shot her first ad with Prahlad Kakkar.

Latest verbal spats It started off with the celebrated ad man Prahlad Kakkar speaking at the Mumbai Film Festival. He started off at the forum saying “Why use a good actor when you can have a nephew? And if you have to create stars anyway, why not from the family? It is hence very difficult for men to become stars. But since Bollywood does not want their women to be in films, females have a better chance of becoming stars or starlets. Men stars are usually useless nephews and sons,” he said at a forum.

No. He did not end there. He went on to ‘cite an example’ in the form of Abhishek Bachchan. He said, “Abhishek Bachchan has 17 flops in a row and is still going strong. He is unique and should be in the Guinness Book of Records.” Needless to say that, this statement garnered an uproarious laughter from the gathering.

Retaliating to this, Abhishek tweeted “I love Prahlad Kakkar, he should be a stand-up comic not an ad-filmmaker. May be then someone will take him seriously! Bachchan delighted by Travolta encounter

Abhishek Bachchan has revealed that he was over the moon when he met John Travolta.

The Bollywood actor claimed that the Hollywood star was very modest when he bumped into him at the GQ Man of the Year awards in Mumbai.

Mr. Bachchan tweeted. "Met one of my childhood favourites, John Travolta. Very sweet and humble,"

Travolta, whose films Saturday Night Fever, Grease and Pulp Fiction were also a hit in India, was presented with the 'Legend of the Year Award' at the event by Bachchan's wife Aishwarya Rai.

Bollywood Actor Abhishek Bachchan has revealed his desire to have two kids from his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

The GQ magazine, Sept issue has our chota Bhachan expresses his uneasiness on being questioned about when he and Ash would have kids. But he added that he would love to have two kids.

“I’ll be happy with two kids. I mean, I have me and my sister, so maybe that’s where it comes from. I feel these are blessings of God, and it should just happen as and when. You know, whenever it’s meant to be. I am against the whole thing of “Let’s plan it”, you know, “We’re trying for a baby.” I find that a bit weird,” he candidly revealed.

The actor further goes on to add,

“I find it very intrusive. I really don’t want to know when other people are having babies; why would you want to know when I’m having babies?”.

Now, in the September issue of GQ magazine, Abhishek says he’s not comfortable when asked when he and Ash would have kids. But he added that he would love to have two kids.

 

“I'll be happy with two kids. I mean, I have me and my sister, so maybe that's where it comes from. I feel these are blessings of God, and it should just happen as and when. You know, whenever it's meant to be. I am against the whole thing of "Let's plan it", you know, "We're trying for a baby." I find that a bit weird,” he candidly revealed.
